Patients, staff and volunteers from Evelina London Children’s Hospital play a starring role in CBBC’s Bafta-winning medical show Operation Ouch!

Operation Ouch! presenters and twins, Dr Chris and Dr Xand Van Tulleken, visited Evelina London for some help to film their latest series. The pair got to grips with hospital radio when they presented a special show for Radio Lollipop, and found out how Nala, sometimes known as ‘Dr Dog’, provides comfort to children in hospital.

Tola, 10, is a dialysis patient at Evelina London and stars in three episodes of the show. Tola made video diaries to explain why he has to go to hospital three times a week and how he fits his hospital treatment in with his schoolwork and his favourite hobby, table tennis.

Tola says: “I had a great time making Operation Ouch! It was really fun and really exciting. When I’m older, I want to be a nurse. I’ve spent a lot of time in hospital so I see how much good work they do.”

Evelina London will be shown in the following episodes:

  • episode 1, Monday 31 October, 5pm, features Tola
  • episode 2, Monday 7 November, 5pm, features Radio Lollipop
  • episode 3, Monday 14 November, 5pm, features Nala
  • episode 5, Monday 28 November, 3.55pm, features Tola
  • episode 9, Thursday 1 December, 3.55pm, features Tola
