The Lancet® Child & Adolescent Health is hosting an art competition for children and young people to get their artwork featured on the front cover of their journal throughout 2018.
The competition is open to any children or young people up to age 24 participating in Evelina London Children's Hospital art sessions. Any current patients at Evelina London unable to attend art sessions but wishing to enter an art project can also take part.
To enter the competition, young people should submit an art project that:
- is original and imaginative, and reflects how the young person feels, what is special to them and the things that they love
- is creative, original, engaging and thought-provoking
- does not use images of characters from children's books, films, cartoons or branded toys.
Artwork can be any size up to A3. We welcome 2D pieces in a range of styles and techniques (e.g. drawing, paintings, prints, collages and weaves) using any art materials.
The competition will run from Friday 30 June until Friday 27 October. There is a limit of two entries per person.
Entrants must complete a sticker to provide contact details so that Evelina London and The Lancet® Child & Adolescent Health can get in touch with competition winners. For children under the age of 18, a parent or guardian must complete the sticker on their behalf. Stickers will provided by a member of hospital staff.
Twelve winners whose entry meets the submission requirements will be chosen by the judging panel on or around Friday 3 November 2017 to receive an art pack gift (approximate retail value of £50). In addition, all winning artwork will be featured on one of the 12 front covers of The Lancet® Child & Adolescent Health journal in 2018. Winners also have the opportunity to have their name and photograph published in the January 2018 edition of The Lancet Child & Adolescent Health journal.
The competition is not open to the general public.
