Area of expertise: anaesthesia for children with heart conditions
Dr Craig Bailey was appointed a consultant anaesthetist at Guy's and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust in 1995. He qualified from the University of London in 1984 and trained in intensive care medicine and anaesthesia in London and Cambridge.
His clinical interest is anaesthesia for children with heart conditions. He has taught and lectured on anaesthesia nationally and internationally in Europe and the Caribbean.
Craig has authored a book, original articles, editorials and chapters on a range of topics including the FRCA examination, adult congenital heart disease patients and pain relief for children.
He was training programme director for the South Eastern School of Anaesthesia between 2000 and 2005 and has been a college tutor. He became an editor of the journal Anaesthesia in 2011 and is currently an examiner for the Royal College of Anaesthetists.
At undergraduate level Criag is a clinical advisor to 12 medical students at GKT School of Medicine and runs a student-selected component (SSC) once a year.
At postgraduate level he is an educational supervisor to two anaesthetic registrars.
