Mr Piet Haersis a consultant cleft and maxillofacial surgeon at the South Thames cleft service at Evelina London. He is also an oral and maxillofacial surgeon at the Royal Surrey County Hospital.
In 2005, he became a faculty member of the specialist dental diploma course of the Faculty of General Dental Practice. In 2012, he was appointed member of the National Clinical Reference Group for the commissioning of cleft lip and plate services.
He is a member of the British Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and is President of the International Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. He is also a Fellow of the European Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, and an elected Fellow of the International Academy of Oral and Facial Rehabilitation.
Professor Haers studied medicine and dentistry and trained in oral and maxillofacial surgery in Belgium, the Netherlands and Switzerland.
He received a FDS RCS ad eundem in 1999 and FGDP RCS in 2010.
