Our kidney service diagnoses and treats all kinds of children's kidney problems. For information about getting or making a referral to this service see our referrals page.
Working together with the urology service, we care for children and young people from across the south east of England and beyond, serving over nine million people.
Our services include:
- chronic kidney disease management
- home-based and hospital-based dialysis
- kidney transplantation - we perform around 15 transplants a year
- young adult clinic
- unique service for children with serious bladder disorders
- nephrotic syndrome.
For a list of the types of kidney problems we treat, see conditions and treatments.
We are the only specialist (tertiary) referral unit in this region for children and young people with serious kidney and bladder problems and one of just 13 children's kidney centres in the UK.
Many of our patients will move to the adult kidney service as they get older.
