Trust appoints new Chief Strategy and Transformation Officer Last updated: Tuesday, 20 January 2026 Julian Kelly has been appointed as the new Chief Strategy and Transformation Officer at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, following a national search and selection exercise. Until recently Julian was Chief Financial Officer and Deputy Chief Executive at NHS England and has previously held several senior leadership roles in central Government, including as the Director General of Public Spending at HM Treasury and Director General - Nuclear at the Ministry of Defence. Amanda Pritchard, Chief Executive of Guy’s and St Thomas’, said: “I am delighted to welcome Julian to the Trust. He is a leader of exceptional calibre with extensive experience in both shaping national healthcare policy and driving complex, large-scale strategic transformation. “Julian’s proven ability to deliver meaningful change across the NHS and wider government, combined with his commitment to partnership working and strong values, will be invaluable as we advance our mission to provider better, faster, fairer healthcare for all over the coming years.” The Chief Strategy and Transformation Officer will have leadership oversight of strategy, communications, DT&I (data, technology and information) and CITI (Centre for Innovation, Transformation and Improvement). Julian Kelly said: “I am delighted to be joining Guy’s and St Thomas’. This is an exceptional trust with an outstanding reputation for patient care and clinical excellence. I am honoured to become part of such a dedicated team.” Julian will join the Trust on 1 February, and will undertake a period of induction, during which he will meet colleagues and teams across the organisation as well as spend time with external partners.
