Popular YouTuber Max Fosh recently visited young patients at Evelina London Children's Hospital and took part in St Thomas' Abseil for Evelina London Children's Charity.

In April, Max made a YouTube video documenting his return to St Thomas' Hospital, where he was born 30 years earlier. Having used his platform to find a 'birthday twin' who was born on the same day at St Thomas', they celebrated their milestone birthday together at the hospital.

Inspired by the visit, Max signed up for St Thomas' Abseil. In September he descended 160 feet down the building in aid of Evelina London Children's Charity.

On the same day, he spent time with young people receiving dialysis at Evelina London Children's Hospital, which is part of Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust. One of the young people he met was 16-year-old Yasin, who has been having dialysis for a year while waiting to receive a kidney from his mum.

Yasin said: "Having dialysis can be boring, but I know how to keep myself entertained. I love drawing, but my favourite hobby is trains and the London Underground. It was so fun meeting a famous YouTuber! I'd watched Max's videos before and especially loved the one he did with Geoff Marshall, who makes YouTube videos about transport.

"I chatted with Max about trains and I showed him my drawings. But my favourite bit was when he video-called Geoff and I got to speak to him. That made my day.

Geoff is still my favourite YouTuber, but Max is a close second!

Yasin's mum, Alya, added: "Having Max visit while Yasin was waiting to have dialysis was a real highlight. Yasin is passionate about trains, and it was wonderful to see him have such a lively conversation with Max."

Max said: "It was a privilege to chat to some of the incredible kids who are having dialysis at Evelina London Children's Hospital. Their strength and humour were so inspirational. I walked in hoping to brighten their day, but they ended up brightening mine. It was lovely to meet nurse Tinu, it was clear how dedicated she is to the families she looks after.

"I owe a lot to St Thomas' Hospital. It was the first building I ever saw back in April 1995 and it's as wonderful today as it was back then.

Being able to give back to such a fantastic institution by abseiling down it was not only rewarding but gave me a real solid anecdote when trying to explain what I do for a job to my parents.

This year marked the 10th anniversary of St Thomas' Abseil. Over the past decade nearly 3,000 people have taken part to raise money for the Trust's supporting charities, including Evelina London Children's Charity. The charity helps us to provide compassionate, trailblazing care for children and their families.
