Volunteers from Radio Lollipop celebrating with some of our young patients and their families

Radio Lollipop, Evelina London’s hospital radio station, has been entertaining our patients and their families for 10 years.

Great music can help to lift everyone’s spirits, so this month, Radio Lollipop celebrated this special anniversary with an ‘end of summer indoor festival’ in our atrium.

This incredible day of fun included visits from talented west end performers, who performed songs from Frozen, Moana, Aladdin and The Little Mermaid. Patients were able to clap along to some of their favourite pop songs and try instruments like guitars and shakers. Some patients even tried out DJing or got involved in dance offs to Gangnam Style and Baby Shark! Radio Lollipop broadcast the whole show live to young people across our hospital.

Radio Lollipop, an international, not-for-profit children’s charity, is run entirely by volunteers. They provide care, comfort, play and entertainment to so many young people through their valuable work.

Radio Lollipop London Chairman, Chaminda Stanislaus says, “2018 has seen us celebrate a milestone birthday of 10 years serving the children at Evelina London. I am extremely proud of all the volunteers giving up their time over the years to put smiles on the children’s faces and look forward to us continuing to do the great work we do in the hospital for many more years to come.”

If you are a patient staying at our hospital, you can listen to Radio Lollipop on your bedside radio (radio button number five). Listen on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6.15pm-8pm. Look out for Radio Lollipop volunteers on your ward and feel free to request a song. The studio is based in our atrium on level 3 (Beach).
