Our bright, new allergy day centre in Snow Leopard

Welcoming up to 14 children and young people a day, Evelina London's newly renovated allergy day case centre on our Snow Leopard ward opened this month.

The bright and colourful centre is a family-friendly, purpose-designed ward where children and young people come to take part in allergy challenges at Evelina London.

Our centre has everything our families and nurses need, including a bespoke food preparation area, so nurses can test children’s allergies to certain foods or medications, bee or wasp stings, or airbourne particles such as pollen.

Vanessa Everett, matron of the allergy day centre, said: “I’m really proud of our nurse-led centre. It’s great to have a new permanent location for our service and the ward looks so welcoming for our families. We also work closely with our allergy research centre and refer children to clinical studies to help Evelina London’s innovative work in further understanding allergies and potential treatment.’

The new centre opened on time, despite the recent challenges of COVID-19, and was celebrated with a socially-distanced ribbon cutting ceremony.  The new centre is part of our exciting plans to grow our hospital.
