Friends from Far Far Away visit Evelina London

Much loved-characters from Shrek’s Adventure! London made a Shrek-tacular visit to Evelina London Children’s Hospital.

Princess Fiona and Muffin Man brought a touch of fairy-tale magic to Evelina London Children’s Hospital, part of Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, London.

Taking some time away from their normal home (just along the South Bank), the characters took a tour of some wards, bringing big smiles as they went. The characters also created Shrek-tastic artwork with families. The visit was supported by members of the Evelina London play team, who are specially trained in providing play for sick children and young people. This wonderful team provide Evelina London’s patients with the means to develop through fun and familiar activities, helping to reduce anxiety and aid their recovery.

Sue Pruden, play services manager at Evelina London, said: “We were delighted to welcome characters from Shrek’s Adventure! London to Evelina London Children’s Hospital to spread some cheer.

“Being in hospital can be a difficult time for some of our families, and we try to make this as special as possible. A big thank you to Princess Fiona and the Muffin Man for spending some time with our children and young people."

Evelina London Children’s Hospital is rated outstanding by the CQC and is one of only two purpose-built, dedicated, children’s hospitals in the whole of London. Evelina London care for more than 104,000 children and young people each year at our hospital and community sites.
