Strike action by junior doctors will take place at our hospital and community sites from 7am on Tuesday 11 April to 7am on Saturday 15 April. We'll contact you if you or your child’s appointment is affected. We apologise for any inconvenience.

A number of transport strikes are due to take place this March. If you or your child has an appointment at one of our hospitals or community centres, please plan ahead and do all you can to attend. If you need to cancel your appointment, please contact your clinical team.

Neurophysiology referrals

Who can refer

For routine and sleep EEG tests, we accept referrals from:

  • hospital consultants at Evelina London Children’s Hospital
  • consultants at other hospitals in London and further afield
  • our accident and emergency department.

For video telemetry, combined telemetry and sleep studies, and EMG tests, we accept referrals from children’s neurologists.

Other clinicians considering video telemetry should discuss their referral with a children’s neurologist or consultant clinical neurophysiologist before making a referral to the department.

How to refer

Doctors at Evelina London Children’s Hospital should refer via EPR with full details about the patient’s condition and history.

Referrals from outside Evelina London Children’s Hospital can be sent by email using the details in the contacts box on this page.

Urgent referrals

Urgent referrals from doctors at Evelina London Children’s Hospital should be sent via EPR, including details of why the referral is urgent and the timeframe in which the test should be done.

Urgent referrals from outside Evelina London Children’s Hospital should be sent by email to the department and marked as urgent.

Emergency referrals

Please send referrals for emergency video EEGs via EPR and follow up with a phone call to discuss the patient and arrange when the test can take place.

We offer an urgent and emergency service to Lewisham Hospital and other neighbouring trusts. Referrals from these hospitals should be sent by email to the department and the referring doctor should call the department to arrange the test and transport for the patient.

We aim to perform all urgent inpatient tests within 24 hours of referral.
