Who can refer
For routine and sleep EEG tests, we accept referrals from:
- hospital consultants at Evelina London Children’s Hospital
- consultants at other hospitals in London and further afield
- our accident and emergency department.
For video telemetry, combined telemetry and sleep studies, and EMG tests, we accept referrals from children's neurologists.
Other clinicians considering video telemetry should discuss their referral with a children's neurologist or consultant clinical neurophysiologist before making a referral to the department.

Urgent referrals
Email any urgent referrals to gstt.paediatricneurophysiology@nhs.net and mark it as 'urgent'.
Emergency referrals
Please send referrals for emergency video EEGs on EPIC and follow up with a phone call to discuss the patient and arrange when the test can take place.
We offer an urgent and emergency service to Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust and other neighbouring trusts. Referrals from these hospitals should be sent by email to the department and the referring doctor should call the department to arrange the test and transport for the patient.
We aim to perform all urgent inpatient tests within 24 hours of referral.
Emergency video telemetry referrals should be discussed with the telemetry lead physiologist or the consultant clinical neurophysiologist.
Urgent nerve conduction and electromyography (EMG) studies should be discussed with the consultant clinical neurophysiologist on 020 7188 3954. Referrals should be sent to gstt.paediatricneurophysiology@nhs.net.
