Eye (ophthalmology)

Our children's eye service treats children with conditions that affect vision and the eyes, such as:

  • squints
  • eye movement disorder
  • cataracts
  • corneal problems
  • glaucoma.

A full list of conditions we treat is on the referrals page.

We see children from Lambeth and Southwark, as well as offering specialist care for children from across the south east and further afield.

In our clinic at St Thomas' Hospital, we aim to provide an environment that is both stimulating and reassuring to children with visual impairments. We have state-of-the-art equipment, including a portable camera which our doctors can take to the bedside of children who are too sick to visit the clinic.

Patient leaflets

Our patient information leaflet Dilating eye drops for children (PDF 35Kb), gives information and advice if your child has been given dilating eye drops.
