Strike action by junior doctors will take place at our hospital and community sites from 7am on Tuesday 11 April to 7am on Saturday 15 April. We'll contact you if you or your child’s appointment is affected. We apologise for any inconvenience.

A number of transport strikes are due to take place this March. If you or your child has an appointment at one of our hospitals or community centres, please plan ahead and do all you can to attend. If you need to cancel your appointment, please contact your clinical team.

Pain management

We provide both acute pain and chronic pain services.

Acute pain service

Acute pain is mild to severe, short-term pain. Our acute pain service helps children in pain who are staying in Evelina London Children's Hospital, often following surgery. We also see inpatients who have not had surgery, but are suffering from severe short-term pain.

Chronic pain service

Chronic pain describes pain that has lasted longer than expected. Sometimes chronic pain can be caused by illness or injury, but sometimes it occurs without a particular trigger. Our chronic pain team work to improve the quality of life in children with persistent pain by helping them to manage their pain, and reduce its effect on their daily life.
