Your child's appointment with the nutrition and dietetic team

How do I get an appointment?

Children are referred to our services by their GP, health visitor, school nurse, speech and language therapist or occupational therapist.

To contact our early years community dietitians, nutritionists and community food workers about health promotion sessions, please call us using the numbers in the contacts box on this page or contact the children's centres.

Cancelling or changing your appointment

Please call us on the numbers in the contacts box on this page.

Before your appointment

If your child is less than 5 years old, please bring their red book (personal child health record).

We'll let you know in your appointment letter if you need to bring anything else with you.

What to expect at your appointment

You or your child will see our dietitian. Appointment times vary, but first appointments generally last 45 minutes.

As we are a teaching hospital, students and visitors may be observing the appointment. We will always ask your permission for them to observe your appointment.

After your appointment

The dietitian will discuss when you will be contacted about your child's follow up appointment with you.
