Having an operation

If your child is coming to Evelina London Children's Hospital for an operation or planned test involving a general anaesthetic, you will be seen by the pre-assessment team beforehand. The pre-assessment team make sure that your child is fit for their operation or planned test.

Read more and watch our short film about what to expect from your pre-assessment appointment. You can also watch a film and find out more about what will happen on the day of the operation. We recommend you watch both films with your child to help them to understand what to expect when coming into hospital. The films have been specially created to help children understand what might happen in a fun and friendly way.
