Neonatal stroke clinic
- Perinatal, presumed perinatal or neonatal strokes occurring up to 28 days
- Joint review with paediatric neurologist and paediatric occupational therapist
- Screening starts from 3 months with surveillance at 9-12 months, 18-24 months
- Clinic aims to identify early motor deficits and support early intervention
Medical stroke clinic
- Children who have strokes after 28 days of life
- Paediatric neurologist with review of imaging by paediatric neuroradiologist and access to cardiology and haematology
Stroke multidisciplinary clinic
- First review after acute childhood stroke (after 28 days)
- Joint review with paediatric neurologist, paediatric occupational therapist and paediatric neuropsychologist.
- Holistic stroke assessmemt
Stroke and acquired brain injury clinic (non-medical)
The focus of the clinic is to address the expressed needs of young people and their parents or carers and help them live as independently as possible. This may be in home, school or leisure activities. We offer specialist consultation, advice and support and we liaise with your local therapy and medical teams when necessary. We can also make onward referrals where required.
- Joint review with paediatric occupational therapist and paediatric neuropsychologist
- Cognitive, emotional regulation, sleep difficulties in context of stroke or aquired brain injury (ABI)
- Concerns about daily activities and participation
