Strike action is taking place in June. We'll contact you directly if you or your child's appointment is affected.

There are rail strikes planned for May and June, which may affect your journey to our hospital and community centres. If you or your child has an appointment booked, please do all you can to attend. Plan your journey ahead and allow extra time.

How to get an appointment

You must have a written referral from your child's hospital doctor, GP or NHS therapist.

Before your appointment

Please bring any orthotic devices your child has previously been provided with.

During your appointment

Your child's appointment will be with one of our state registered orthotists.

The orthotists are qualified professionals responsible for the assessment, prescription, design, manufacture and fitting of orthoses.

They work with medical staff, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, rehabilitation engineers, prosthetists and podiatrists. Consequently these professionals may be present during your child's appointment, if appropriate.

Appointments are for 30 minutes and may be longer for complex assessments.

We support student training and will always ask your permission for students to be present at your child's appointment.

After your appointment

The orthotist will give you and your child guidance on the orthosis and how to look after it.

Reviews of the orthosis will be arranged as and when they are needed.

Your orthotist may liaise with whoever referred your child, to let them know how they are progressing.

If you have any questions or concerns, please call 020 3049 7776.
