General medicine (paediatrics)

Treating children with a wide range of common childhood problems

The children's general medicine service treats children from south London and south east England with a wide range of common childhood problems. We also support other specialist teams treating children with more complex medical conditions.

Specialist children's consultants and nurses see children at a daily outpatient clinic. We also have access to a broader team including dietitians, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, child psychologists and children’s pharmacists.

We care for children who need to stay in hospital on Mountain Ward (level 5).

Working in the community

We work closely with our colleagues in the community children's services in Lambeth and Southwark and run some outreach clinics at the Mary Sheridan Centre.

We also have strong links with South London and the Maudsley Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) and with the general children's team at King’s College Hospital.

Help us with research

We're also involved in research projects on sickle cell disease, infectious diseases and epilepsy. Find out more about getting involved in research.
