General surgery referrals
Who can refer
We accept referrals from GPs, community services and other hospital health professionals.
How to refer
All NHS GP referrals must be submitted using the NHS e-Referral service (formerly Choose and Book).
Referrals sent to the nhs.net mailbox or by post from GPs will not be processed.
Hospital doctors or other health professionals should email or post a referral letter using the details in the referral contacts box on this page.
Please include a detailed description of the problem.
Emergency referrals
Emergency referrals are received from the accident and emergency department at St Thomas’ Hospital and from other hospitals in south London and south east England.
For emergency referrals, please refer to the general surgery referral checklist (Word 257Kb) to ensure that you are ready to provide all the necessary information that our team will need to accept the referral. Then bleep the registrar on call. To do this, call the main hospital switchboard on 020 7188 7188 and choose the option for the bleep desk. The bleep number for the registrar is 2505.

We accept referrals from midwives, breastfeeding advisers and other health professionals.
How to refer
Health professionals should complete the tongue-tie referral form (Word 249Kb) and email it to gst-tr.evelinatonguetieclinic@nhs.net.
