Kidney service

Our kidney service diagnoses and treats all kinds of children's kidney problems.

Working together with the urology service, we care for children and young people from across the south east of England and beyond, serving over nine million people.

Our services include management of:

  • chronic kidney disease
  • home-based and hospital-based dialysis
  • kidney transplantation - we perform around 18 transplants a year
  • young adult clinic
  • unique service for children with serious bladder disorders
  • nephrotic syndrome.

For a list of some of the types of kidney problems we treat, see kidney conditions and treatments.

Many of our patients will move to the adult kidney service as they get older.
