Appointments with the counselling service for parents and carers

How do I get an appointment?

You can ask Evelina London staff members or a member of your community healthcare team to refer you.

You can also contact us to refer yourself:

Or complete the counselling service referral form (Word 247KB) or bereavement counselling referral form (Word 248KB) and email it to us.

Changing or cancelling your appointment

To change or cancel your appointment, please contact your counsellor using the contact details they have given you.

If your counsellor is unavailable, please contact us:

During your appointment

You'll usually have 1 appointment a week that will last 50 minutes. If you're having an appointment as a couple, you can agree with your counsellor to extend your appointment to 90 minutes.

Your appointment will take place on a weekday and you can choose whether you'd like it to be:

  • in person
  • by video call
  • by telephone

Your first appointment will usually be an assessment of your needs and an introduction to the service.

We'll ask you some questions about your past and present and think about the best way to support you and for how long.

Your next appointments will focus on the needs you have told us about and will provide a confidential space to reflect on the challenges related to your child's situation.

The number of appointments you have will depend on your situation. We'll review your needs at intervals and offer you up to 12 sessions.
