Hi it's Katie... again!

Can you believe it’s been four years since I wrote my last blog? A lot has happened since then, and I can’t wait to share with you what I’ve been up to.

This January, marked five years since I underwent major spinal fusion surgery for scoliosis at Evelina London, (or as I like to call it my ‘Scoli-versary’) - I couldn’t let the occasion go unmarked and so I decided that I wanted to celebrate all the amazing care I’ve received over the years from the spinal team at Evelina London, with a special year-long fundraising challenge, which I named: ‘Katie’s Big 5 Challenge’.

5 challenges later…

  • A 5K walk
  • A big baking challenge

  • A photography challenge

  • A raffle

  • And spreading festive joy

I’m delighted to say that I’m now within touching distance of my £1000 target, with my fundraising total at the time of writing, standing at £967.

Aside from my work with Evelina London, and since I last wrote, I managed to secure a role in my dream career field of marketing, and have been working as a digital marketing apprentice for the last 14 months at one of the worlds largest companies - working with some of the UK’s biggest household brands!

I’d like to finish by expressing just how much I enjoy giving back to Evelina London. It’s a very rewarding experience, and I certainly have no intention of stopping anytime soon. I’m excited to see what 2023 holds - bring it on!

If you’re reading this right now, it’s probably because like me, Evelina London holds a special place in your heart too. One of the things that makes Evelina London such a special place, is that it is shaped and designed by the very people that it cares for.

Does sharing your experiences with like-minded people to help shape the future of the hospital, for other young people and their families, sound like something you’d be interested in? Then why not get involved! Evelina London are always looking for people just like you to have their say and share ideas and experiences.
