""February 2024

What is your current role?

I'm a paediatric theatre nurse in Evelina London's children's day surgery unit.

How did you get into nursing?

I guess it runs in the blood as we're a family of nurses, especially on my father's side.

What do you love about working as a theatre nurse?

What I love the most about working as a theatre nurse is that I've had the chance to work with a very diverse group of people who share the same goal and interest for the betterment of each and every patient.

The fact that I'm constantly learning and able to familiarise myself with all the procedures across a range of specialties is a bonus!

I've been pleased with the opportunities available to me since I joined the Trust and am really excited about the career opportunities ahead at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust.

What's special about working in the children's day surgery unit?

It's a lovely unit, and its outer space artwork can really help to put our young patients at ease when they come in for a procedure.

The passion that everybody shows day-to-day is just spectacular. I am truly blessed and honoured to be a part of this wonderful team!

How would you summarise the training and development you have received?

The training and development within Evelina London and the wider Trust is just superb, and the training is easy to access. We also have very supportive practice development nurses that we can rely on if we need additional training or if we need something in terms of career growth.

What's been your proudest moment?

Being part of the 'pioneering team' for the children’s day surgery unit is one of my proudest moments! Also, I now understand each and every procedure being performed in our children's day surgery unit, including the most complex ones.

What does working at Evelina London mean to you?

I'm very proud to work in, and be a part of, what I consider to be the number 1 children's hospital in the UK.

Probably the most rewarding aspect of becoming a nurse is the emotional reward you can receive from caring for patients.
